Description
ETH-ETH500-SET is a set of two extenders to extend the range of a LAN with PoE. Installed between any PoE switch and a PoE-powered IP camera, it can extend the network range up to 800m using ordinary UTP cable.
The extender set should be used when the distance from the switch to the PoE receiver exceeds 100m.

The devices allow installation of cameras or other IP PoE devices in remote locations where installation of additional cabling is impossible or uneconomical. It provides an economical alternative to cabling based on fiber optics and a separate power line.
It will work well in installations over wide areas, as well as in places where the monitoring system is temporary and the cost of preparing the cabling is important.
Example applications:
- upgrading existing analog CCTV installations to Ethernet-based systems
- monitoring of construction sites, where, with a limited budget, it is necessary to make an installation over a wide area. Low cost of cabling while maintaining safety of use in areas often exposed to damage
- construction of CCTV installations for photovoltaic farms, playing fields and recreational areas, city parks, etc.
ETH-ETH500 module can be powered from any PoE switch (RJ45 port). Then use UTP cable to connect ETH-ETH500 modules with each other via LONG RANGE ports. The maximum cable length in the LONG RANGE path is 800m. The connection between ETH-ETH500 modules realizes us two-way network communication and PoE power supply.
A camera or other PoE receiver should be connected to the RJ45 port of the ETH-ETH500 module at the end of the line. Once the PoE receiver is correctly identified in the power switch, all devices will be powered and a connection will be established across the line.
Once the devices are powered and the cables are correctly connected, they will establish communication at 100Mbps. If a stable connection cannot be established, the transmission speed will be reduced to 10Mbps. This will be signaled by the lighting of an LED.
Operating status, bandwidth and voltage control are indicated by LEDs:
- PWR - the device is powered
- LED 10M - available throughput of 10Mbps
- LED LV - Low voltage, low voltage (<44V) on the device
LV LED latches and indicates that the voltage on the ETH-ETH500 receiver has dropped below 44V DC. It can be reset by turning off the unit and applying power again. Its lighting signals the need to verify the correctness of the set's power supply. A voltage drop below 44V DC may be the cause of unstable operation or will prevent PoE receivers connected to the ETH-ETH500 from starting up after restart.
ETH-ETH500 modules have the ability to be powered from external power supplies via additional screw connectors. In this mode, it is not possible to power the PoE receiver. Power supply to both devices on both sides of the LONG RANGE path is required for proper operation.

Notes:
- the distances given are based on the PSE PoE 55V 60-90W power source supplying 4-pair mode
- factors such as the quality of the cable, the number of connectors in the cable run, insulation damage and environmental conditions present at the installation site may affect the actual transmission distance and should be taken into account when designing
The device has a protection level of IP20, a suitable enclosure (minimum IP44) is required to ensure protection from the elements and condensation.
If the device will be used in a small space, it is possible to cut and break the mounting brackets of the base to reduce the dimensions of the module.
ETH-ETH500 is equipped with a universal mounting stand, which allows mounting in several ways:
- with mounting studs on the 10.8mm grid, which is in all ABOX enclosures
- with the use of mounting studs for RACK 19" and RACK 10" adapters
- by screwing through additional holes to any flat surface
- using additional ADD-TH35 adapter you can mount the module on TH35 (DIN) rail
Installation notes
- The set includes two of the same devices - there is no distinction between the transmitter and the receiver. They can be installed interchangeably on the LONG RANGE track
- ETH-ETH500 modules will start only after connecting the whole track with PoE receiver (PoE camera) after correct identification by power switch
- Long Range track requires all 4 pairs of twisted pair cable for proper operation
